Horses kept in stalls, carrying riders, and performing demanding tasks accumulate enormous physical and emotional tension. Equine massage is one of the most effective tools to address it.
Massage increases serotonin, dopamine, and oxytocin while decreasing cortisol — the stress hormone. These aren’t just human responses; horses are mammals too and respond identically.
Equine massage increases blood and lymph flow, reduces scar tissue, alleviates nerve pain, and decreases muscle stiffness and joint inflammation after workouts — for any activity level.
Horses that receive regular bodywork are healthier, happier, and perform at a higher level. Improved flexibility and range of motion — especially paired with stretching — makes a measurable difference.
When your horse understands you’re doing something for them — not just to them — the relationship changes. Judah has seen it for decades: they know you care, and that transforms the dynamic.
The Lyons Institute approach goes beyond standard equine massage. Judah’s training at the Rolf Institute and 35 years of practice shaped a distinctive methodology that combines myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and craniosacral work.
Humans and horses are very different animals — not everything in craniosacral therapy translates directly between species. Judah guides you through adapting the Biodynamic model to the equine system, so you can perform the holds safely and effectively. The emphasis is on stillness, listening, and letting the horse’s system communicate its needs to you.
No prior experience required. Both courses are built to take you from interested to confident, at your own pace — alone or together.
Myofascial: 30 lessons, 7 hrs 15 min. Craniosacral: 22 lessons, 5 hrs. The full bundle gives you all 45 lessons and nearly 10 hours of instruction.
Lyons Institute has set the bar in equine 3D visualizations for over 12 years — muscle fiber flows, fascial sheets, cranial bone movements, and Biodynamic field dynamics.
Each course includes a companion booklet you can print and bring to the barn. The full bundle includes a 39-page PDF covering both myofascial and craniosacral techniques.
Take the videos with you anywhere — even without internet access. Download to your computer or mobile device and work at your own pace.
Direct access to Judah himself at judah@lyonsinstitute.com for as long as he’s teaching. Teachers love motivated students.
Myofascial: 8.5 CE hours. Craniosacral: 6 CE hours. The full bundle earns you 14.5 NCBTMB-approved continuing education hours.
Two complete courses — take one or both. The full bundle combines all modules into one seamless program.
Judah’s relationship with horses began at age four, sneaking through the woods to watch horses at the Hungarian stables near his home. By his early teens he was riding, and at 17 he bought his first horse and rode 600 miles along the Continental Divide over six months.
From 1970–1973, Judah ran the largest equitation center in Colorado under twice-Olympian Captain Zygmunt Bilwin — sometimes riding 8 horses a day. He later worked at Cashvan Arabians in Virginia, personally responsible for the care of 9 stallions in an 82-horse breeding farm.
His bodywork education includes training at the Rolf Institute of Structural Integration, the Upledger Institute for Craniosacral Therapy, and a two-year Biodynamic Craniosacral program at the Karuna Institute in Devon, England. He began applying these techniques to horses in 1989 — with immediate results.
“My intention is to create a video series that will just keep on giving for all the horses on our water planet. They have given so much to humanity for thousands of years.”
Judah has been teaching since 1992. His final equine work included caring for five horses owned by an eventer who competed in the 2012 London Olympics.
“I’m an equine massage therapist, bodyworker, and animal communicator, and I cannot thank you enough for the beautiful hearts you and Michael have poured into your work! My heart is so aligned with your work, and I am so grateful to have found your institute.”
“I’m really liking the equine video series. The structure you’ve created — anatomy, animated demo, then live demo — keeps a sensible organization. Relating to your horse trip in the Rockies and the saddle issue helps settle and internalize the information. It allows me to reflect on my past with horses in a whole new way.”
“Judah, thank you so much for everything that you have so freely given. You have changed my work more than you know.”
“I have just completed your online equine craniosacral therapy course. It was a joy! The way you teach is phenomenal. You show such grace and respect around horses. I had already begun to work with energy and feeling my way — because I prefer to listen to the tissues. I have a background in human massage and was already familiar with this concept.”
“You instill a heartfelt yet no-nonsense confidence in the student throughout the course, paired with constant reminders that DOING the work is the key. I have been thoroughly enjoying playing around with the principles from your equine course and the human Volume 1 — such amazing visuals!”

Absolutely not. This course introduces everything you need to begin with confidence. If you already have bodywork training, you’ll transition easily to horses — and Judah promises there’s a wealth of new knowledge regardless of your experience level.
Forever. Videos are downloadable to your devices. If you ever have an equipment failure, just log back in and download them again.
You don’t — but Judah strongly encourages building a relationship with your vet and farrier. Their anatomical insight will accelerate your learning significantly, and most vets are happy to help.
Regulations vary by country and state, so Judah can’t answer that universally. After completing the course, you’ll have the skills. Reach out to him directly if you need guidance on professional pathways in your area.
Due to the digital nature of the materials, there are no refunds. The preview videos, course outline, and FAQ on this page give you a very clear picture of what’s inside. In 17+ years of selling these videos, they’ve had only 2 return requests — and neither was about course quality.
